Une société de renseignement de géolocalisation d’Australie occidentale a développé une première technologie mondiale permettant la communication entre la surface et le sol via des appareils intelligents.
Cette technologie permet d'envoyer des photographies et des vidéos à la surface depuis des tunnels éloignés situés dans des sites souterrains profonds.
GeoMoby utilise des balises sans fil, sans câble et réutilisables pour géolocaliser les sites, suivre les actifs et enregistrer le personnel, offrant ainsi un niveau de sécurité et d'efficacité jamais vu auparavant.
Le fondateur de GeoMoby, Chris Baudia, a déclaré que la précision de ses services de localisation en temps réel permettait d'améliorer la sécurité du personnel, en localisant les emplacements à moins d'un mètre des incidents, des urgences ou des pannes d'équipement.
“If an incident occurs underground, mining companies are currently blind and rely on radio transmissions to pinpoint locations and relay instructions on how to respond,” Baudia said.
“Our technology gives operators on the surface a clear picture of who is where underground, while allowing those below the surface to send and receive phone calls, videos, photos and audio files.
“Live mapping of assets is not only beneficial for safety reasons. It allows operators to monitor equipment like trucks and other expensive machinery, checking speed, location, routes, and other information.”
GeoMoby’s geolocation intelligence acts independent of wifi, which can cost companies millions of dollars each year to maintain and does not give the range that GeoMoby’s technology does.
“Data collected can be used to boost productivity. In fact, our live field reporting and automated timesheets resulted in a 20 per cent boost in productivity for one of our clients,” Baudia said.
Même si l’exploitation minière souterraine bénéficie clairement de cette nouvelle technologie, il existe de multiples applications dans de nombreux secteurs, notamment l’assurance, la vente au détail, ainsi que la santé et la sécurité.
“Contact tracing is a huge priority for companies now,” Baudia said.
